JGB w/Melvin Seals is still very active. I don't know the name of the guitarist, and while he ain't no Jerry and there will NEVER be another, the dude's not that bad. He obviously emulates the man, instrumentally and vocally, and the band sounds passibly good. With Melvin drawing from personal experience, they're able to reproduce a sound that has a much more genuine feel to it than any GD cover band I've heard, excluding all of the post-GD bands that include actual members (that is, if you consider them to be GD cover bands).

Let me clarify by mentioning that JGB is not a band that does Grateful Dead songs, per se, but is, rather a band that does Jerry songs that he relegated to his side projects. Or at least I have not seen them do Grateful Dead songs as such. Of course they do Deal, Sugaree, and other songs that were part of the Garcia solo repertoire, but I think they stay away from (for example) St. Stephen, China Cat Sunflower, and other Garcia/Hunter tunes that were pretty much Grateful Dead exclusives. I could be wrong. God knows that's possible.

Yeah, the singer/guitarist is named Stu Allen, and he is a badass. They also have a great rhythm section and great singers, and of course Melvin rips.

I was just wondering if anyone here was at the show and if they taped it or know of anybody who did.

Here is the page that has all their current shows:

thanks for the help!
